Hi,
I'm Xan Berastegui a french (basque) modeler
here the first of the three yak-9 I'm building.
The two other are the ICM one and the LTD one
I paint it with Akan paints
this is a yak-9D in resin made by Missing link:

I represent the plane of Jacques de Saint Phalle who died two years ago at 93 years old

I discovered those white stripes

some normandie's yak had them

well done and good camo

those white stripes can be found on Yak-9T only, I have never seen them on other Yak-9s. Marchi flew 9T

yak-9D

these fuel filler caps are inappropriate:

there was normally a single cap on the topmost tank of each wing (no need to have more because tanks were interconnected with tubes)
^

Thank you for those precious informations.
I will correct it...
All the yak-9 T had those strips ?
what was them for ? was it to know were the plane could be raised ? like the french MS406 red strips ?

for the fuel filler once again , I trust in pilawskii works....
http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/Research/Yakovlev/FuelGauges/index.php
and believe tha t early yak-9 had only twu fuel filler and the yak-9D long range had four... I will correct it too

Another mistake from Pilawskii...
thank you again, I learned two important things !

they can be seen on most of them. They say they helped in accurate aiming in ground attacks

xan писал(а):
yak-9D long range had four

here is an illustration from the original Yak-9 tech manual:

it clearly states muffled (unused) inner tank filler in 4-tank setup

in 2-tank setup, this filler was used

Thank you again...
another question:
is this representation of the gazoline level accurate?

the scale range is correct for 2-tank Yak-9 configuration: in the 215L (155 kg) tank, the lowest position of the gauge's float corresponds to 0 kg, and the highest position of the gauge's float corresponds to 140 kg (approx. 194 L). With 4-tank Yak-9 configuration, the highest position of the gauge's float corresponds to 220 kg in 2 neighboring tanks, so for Yak-9D, the scale shield range should be 0...220

gazoline was supplied / indicated in kilograms (not in litres!)
===================

Hello Mgolovanov (and the others !),
I need an information:

in this pic we can see stencils on a yak-9T:

first question did all yak-9 propellers have those stencils?

second question, I have those one from a yak-3 decals... Were they the same than yak-9's stencils ?

I will put my second yak-9 pics in this post soon...
if you want to see my work, here it is...
(you are, of course, welcome in my french post!)
http://www.master194.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=64797&start=650

another thing please...

Does yak-9's antenna wire (aerial) care little balls as yak-1's did ?

It looks like VISH-105SV (ВИШ-105СВ) screw blades sometimes had this stensil and sometimes not. Most likely the stensils were always painted on the blades when released by the manufacturer and often disappeared (shaded) when the blades were repainted

xan писал(а):

they should be the same - as the same were the screws (VISH-105SV). The decal seems to be applicable

one minor note to this specific decal: the screw was ВИШ-105СВ, so the decal should read "ВИШ-105СВ", not "ВИШ-105":

Thank you...
here is the second yak-9 ...
it's the ICM model representing the Pouyade's plane

Hi xan!
A good couple
Only on "12" type of radio antenna a little bit spoiled. And so +1

the third one, the Roland de la Poype's yak-9T

Roland de la Poype is the last Normandie niemen adventure pilot alive...
I find quite emotiv those few pictures:
When Roland touch his yak, his lost youth and friends gone come to his mind
http://www.youtube.com/v/_do6Rzttv8k
Well here is the model; the LTD is surely the best representation of the yak-9...
not easy, but quite accurate

trиs mauvaise surprice, la casserole est beaucoup plus йtroite le le nez de l'avion Crying or Very sad

and that's a pic I am very happy to take (it has been quite long):

the next and last one to be updated will be the Iribarne's one.
