Bf 110 C-6 W.Nr 2249 piloted by Fw Ludwig Schmidhuber of 6. 1. KIA on 27th Feb 1942 along with gunner Ogfr. Robert Kissler. Photos of S9+SP in the summer of 1941 show the machine in very light colours like the 02/71 machines seen during the Battle of Britain. At this time no Wasp emblem was on the nose and the very rare thin fuselage cross can also be seen. When the machine and crew were lost the machine was covered in winter white including all codes except the yellow 'S. The photos do not show the nose and so it is not known if 2249 ever had the wasp emblem but it is shown as it appears on sister C-6 S9+BM. C-6 S9+BM was fitted with a periscope sight; S9+SP may also have been thus fitted. As with S9+BM S9+SP allo has spinners in the Gruppe colour with spinner tips in Staffel colour.
